The Inaugural Island Food Systems Summit will bring together leaders and partners throughout the territory, Caribbean, and US mainland who are working towards the development of a sustainable food system in the US Virgin Islands.
Join Virgin Islands Good Food as we host the Inaugural Island Food Systems Summit, on St. Croix on February 19th to February 21st, 2024. The Summit takes place on the heels of the 52nd Annual Agricultural and Food Fair, hosted by the Virgin Islands Department of Agriculture, on Saturday, February 17th to Monday, February 19th.
The Island Food Systems Summit seeks to amplify and center the voices and experiences of Virgin Islands farmers, front line workers, and allies as we aim to: 1) to bring awareness, understanding and networking across the various programs and projects; 2) to increase knowledge and relationships across diverse funding providers; 3) to increase opportunities to center front line workers to engage in important conversations that impact agriculture and the environment; and 4) to determine opportunities for collaboration across the Caribbean.
Registration fee is $100 and includes
-- Mon. 19th: evening networking reception with hors' devours
-- Tues. 20th: Summit panels and immersive experiences, breakfast + lunch
-- Wed. 21st: Summit panels and activities, breakfast + lunch
(For participants traveling from off-island, transportation will be provided between Christiansted and Summit locations and activities.)
Evening "Learning Dinners" are scheduled for Tuesday, and a fundraising benefit dinner is scheduled for Wednesday, which can be reserved and purchased separately for $75 per person/ per event.
Virgin Islands farmers, front line workers, and students can apply for the Summit Scholarship to assist with registration fees and/or associated costs for attendees traveling from St. Thomas, St. John, and Water Island.
